Phang Nga Bay
Phang Nga Bay, a stunning expanse of 400 square kilometres, is home to about 100 uniquely shaped islands. Among these is the famous James Bond Island, known for its iconic rocky pinnacle that has captivated visitors since its appearance in the 1974 James Bond movie, The Man with the Golden Gun.
The official name of the island is Ko Khao Phing Kan and it is arguably one of the most beautiful islands in Thailand and the Andaman Sea.
As part of the Ao Phang Nga Marine National Park, James Bond Island is a protected marine area, which means boats can't get too close. Its striking formation, with a larger upper part and a slender base, is a sight to behold from a boat or the nearby Ko Ping Ghan.
Ko Ping Ghan itself is a marvel — a towering leaning rock with several intriguing small caves to explore. On the bustling eastern beach, you'll find an array of stalls and stands offering charming souvenirs crafted from shells and wood, making it a delightful spot to soak in the local culture and take home a piece of the adventure.
