Can't Beat For the Off Season Price

5/55/5 • 15/09/2025

We went in the second week of September. There were very few kids. Club Med Cancun wasn't crowded, the food was unimaginably good, our room was clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly and helpful, the facilities were clean and well maintained, our excursions were great, and we can't wait to go back. As others have mentioned, it's quite a walk from one end to the other, but they have golf carts (Boogies) that have on/off stops if you're making the trip from Reception to the Dive Center dock, or anywhere in between. Going the other direction towards the trapeze, you pretty much have to walk, unless you ask nicely for them to take you. The Dive Center Office for bookings is by the new water slides, sailing, and Taco Arte, but their dock facility is further away. We didn't dive this trip, but we scoped it out. If the season is right, I highly recomment the 'snorkeling with Whalesharks,' and the Cenote excursions. This was our first trip to Cancun, and we were surprised at the modern airport. We were happy we paid for the airport transportation. The regular taxi drivers might be cheaper, but no thank you. Our drivers were nice, and the vans were clean and newer. Upon arrival at the airport, the Club Med rep. was wearing a Club Med shirt and was holding a sign along side dozens of other hotel reps. in a designated area. Upon leaving at the airport, they have dozens and dozens of kiosks to get your boarding passes and luggage tags by scanning your passport. The kiosks are for multiple airlines, you just touch screen your's, then you go to your airline's counter for the bag drop and final check. For the off season price, you can't beat it. One more thing; you can book the two 'premium' dinner restaurants from a phone app, or from the tablet in your room. They are Taco Arte, and La Estancia. Taco Arte closed after we had lunch there for renovations, so we didn't get to have dinner there, but lunch was an excellent buffet. La Estancia has great steaks. They didn't take reservations at the restaurants anymore.

Another great Cancún trip under the books!!! All thanks to Hector and the great staff at Club. Hector was amazing from start to finish of our day pass and I couldn’t have asked for better service. As the only person familiar with the property in a group of 7 Hector was a gem. From having lunch with us to being sure to send us off with lots of love and anticipation for our return.

Club Med Cancún

Located at the tip of the iconic Riviera Maya, the newly redesigned Club Med Cancún Yucatán is waiting to be discovered. Our magnificent resort offers an array of experiences and activities and direct access to ancient Mayan wonders.

The Club Med Cancún Yucatán all-inclusive resort sits right next to three sandy beaches, along the world’s second-largest coral reef. It’s the place to be if you want to explore, unwind, and immerse yourself in the culture and adventure of Mexico.

Palm trees in Cancun

A Bit About Cancún

A city in southeast Mexico on the northeast coast of the Yucatán Peninsula, Cancún is one of the most significant tourist destinations in Mexico. As one of Mexico’s easternmost points, the city is on the Caribbean Sea.

One thing to know about Cancún is that it’s a planned city, and it was created to foster tourism. Back in the 1970s when the area development first started, Isla Cancún only had three residents. All of them were caretakers of the coconut plantation of Don José de Jesús Lima Gutiérrez.

Since then, Cancún has seen a major transformation and it’s now one of the two most well-known resorts in Mexico, next to Acapulco.

The official language in Cancún is Spanish, although many people speak English as it’s a big tourist destination.

Since Cancún boasts a wonderfully long coastline, preserving it is in everyone’s interest. When packing, make sure to only take reef-safe sunblock with you.

Climate in Cancun

Cancun climate and cuisine

Cancún, Mexico has a tropical climate, or more specifically a tropical wet and dry climate. That means that the city is hot pretty much all year round. Also, the annual mean temperature is 27.1 °C.

Unlike inland areas of the Yucatán Peninsula, sea breeze restricts high temperatures from reaching 36 °C on most days. Not only that but thanks to Yucatán’s current continually bringing warm water from the south, the sea temperature is always warm. In the winter, the lows are typically around 26 °C, while in the summer highs are around 29 °C.

The rainy season lasts from May to late October. That’s when Cancún experiences high temperatures and humidity, along with intense summer thundershowers. The dry season runs from December through April.
Culture and Customs
Given Cancún’s popularity with younger crowds and college-age travellers, the city typically has a more casual dress code. Cancún’s nighttime establishments, like bars and clubs, often welcome a more relaxed atmosphere and appearance.

Cancun cuisine

When you book your Cancún holiday with Club Med, you’ll receive full-board gourmet cuisine included in your stay. However, if you want to branch out within the city, you’re sure to discover plenty of restaurants worth sampling.
Cancún has almost as many restaurants as hotels, so you should have no trouble finding something to your taste. One of the reasons for that is that the cuisine of Mexico is regarded as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of Unesco.
For a taste of true, authentic Mexican cuisine, the cochinita pibil is one of the most famous dishes from the Yucatán cookbook. The combination of ancient Mayan spices, combined with pork marinated in achiote and sour orange, is simply addictive. That said, if you want more variety, you’ll easily find it in any number of international restaurants.

Chichen Itza

A Day Trip to Chichen Itza

Cancún is an incredibly thrilling and exciting destination with activities, excursions, and attractions galore.

A well-known archeological site and the 7th wonder of the world, Chichen Itza welcomes more than 2.5 million tourists each year. The sacred site was one of the greatest Mayan centres in the entire Yucatán peninsula. Throughout its nearly 1,000-year history, Chichen Itza represents a fusion of many different people. It’s open to tourists from Monday to Sunday, from 8 AM to 4 PM.

If you want to visit this magnificent site, you can do so through Club Med. A guide will travel with you, helping you navigate the wondrous attraction, and after (an included) lunch, you can swim in an open cenote and visit the colonial city of Valladolid.

Discover Coba

Another stunning site of Mayan culture that shouldn’t be missed is Coba. Located in the eastern part of the Yucatán Peninsula, it’s one of the few sites to retain its Mayan name; it translates to ruffled/uneven water.
The settlement dates to the Preclassic, which was around 350 BC – 250 CE. Coba contains many free-standing carved stone slabs, as well as many white stone roads that extend within and outside of the site.
To visit Coba and explore the Nohoch Mul pyramid, you can book an excursion with Club Med Cancún. After lunch, you can refresh yourself in a spectacular cenote on the Yucatán peninsula.

Tulum and Cenote

Tulum and Cenote

Tulum was the last great city the Mayans constructed and inhabited between the 13th and 15th centuries. It was a site of worship to the Great Descending God whose image you can still see within the temple walls.
Nowadays, numerous ancient structures remain, spread out over groomed lawns and oceanside cliffs. The Tulum ruins are open seven days a week from 8 AM to 5 PM, and they get around 2,000 visitors each day.
With Club Med, you can discover all that this wonderful city has to offer and explore the underground geological formation while swimming in the crystal-clear waters of a cavern.

Ancient Kingdom of Ek’Balam

The Ancient Kingdom of Ek’Balam

Ek’Balam is a Yucatec-Maya archeological site and it lies on the Northern Maya lowlands, 25 km north of Valladolid. It was a seat of a Mayan kingdom from the Preclassic until the Postclassic period.
As part of Ek’Balam, there are 45 structures, which include walls, a chapel, an oval palace, ballcourt, steam bath, and more. With Club Med, you can book an exciting excursion to the ancient kingdom, followed by a swim in a natural freshwater pool or cenote.
