Discover Bali
Also known as the Island of Gods, Bali is a truly unique Indonesian destination. A dream destination for decades, the tourism boom in Bali began back in the 1980s. Travellers from all over the world visit this tropic paradise for wellness and spiritual healing and to catch a glimpse of the beautiful beaches and nature.
Australian citizens do not need an entry visa for short visits to Bali and the rest of Indonesia provided their stay is for 30 days or less and is for tourism purposes. This is made possible by Indonesia’s Visa Exemption for certain countries, including Australia.
However, if you’re planning to stay longer or visit for reasons such as business, an extendable Visa on Arrival (VoA) can be obtained at the airport, allowing an additional 30 days. That said, always check the latest travel advisories for any updates or changes to visa policies before travelling.
Once you get to Bali, you can get around with private cars, motorbikes, taxis, and apps like Blue Bird Taxi. However, if you’re considering renting and driving a car or motorbike, make sure you’re safe, wear a helmet, and be wary of sometimes poor road conditions.
While a lot of the locals in Bali work in tourism and speak English well, learning a few key Balinese phrases can go a long way. Also, the Indonesian Rupiah (Rp) is the official currency and if you’re entering Bali on or after 14 February 2024, you will need to pay a tourism tax of Rp 150,000 per person.
